Verbascum nigrum/ chaixii 'Album' Mullein or root yellow or white has Common Names: Nettle-leaved Mullein

 

Young plant grown in a 9cm pot (in winter may be supplied bare root from the open ground) for planting immediately or to grow on (plastic pot removed when possible, so can be reused)

 

'Album' is a perennial forming a rosette of green leaves, with a narrow panicle of white flowers with purple centres, in late summer. The yellow form is the typical native.

 

Grows naturally in alkaline, poor, well-drained soil in full sun; drought-tolerant. In fertile soils, it grows wide compared to other mulleins with multiple stems and will reflower if the first crop of stems is removed as soon as they start going over, giving a longer season.

Spread: 0.1 - 0.6 m in 2 to 5 years
