Sporobolus heterolepis . Sporobolus once covered the Great Plains in huge swathes but the race for biodiesel has seen their native home ploughed into oblivion. A true Prairie native this is an easy, drought tolerant grass that is very tidy in its manner of the airiest most diaphenous effect.Feted for use in modern naturalistic meadow and prairie plantings.

Cut back in late winter. Divide every 3 years to maintain vigour.

Grows best in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun. Tolerates heat, salt spray, alkaline soil, and strong winds. Drought tolerant once established but thrives with regular moisture. May be evergreen in the warmest areas of its growing range.When out of this species we will send the only slightly less airy S.airoides.
