M. breweri is a compact, clump-forming, rhizomatous, evergreen perennial with kidney-shaped, glossy, hairy, toothed, mid-green leaves and, from late spring into summer, erect racemes of small, saucer-shaped, green flowers with fringed petals.

 
Grow in leafy, moist but well-drained, preferably acid soil in partial shade.
 
Remove faded flower stems to prevent self-seeding.
