Lobelia siphilitica:

  • Lobelia prefers damp soils and in the wild is often seen growing in boggy places like swamps in sun or part shade however this will grow even in quite dry soils. Lobelia flowers generally begin forming in midsummer on tall stalks and may last into autumn. It is a tough, low maintenance plant which makes it perfect for wet gardens. This is one of the few totally hardy lobelias .Not quite as 'sexy' as the L.'Tania's or 'Russian Princesse's of this world but a great plant for gardeners who don't want to do constant battle with  slugs and snails;they hardly touch this one.
