Helenium hoopesii is a clump-forming perennial with long, narrow, inversely lance-shaped grey-green leaves with near-white midribs. In early summer, produces bright yellow daisy-like flowers, with a prominent central disc and narrow, drooping petals, on branching leafy stems to 1m high. Grow in gritty, sharply drained soil in full sun, protect from excess winter wet. Dislikes high humidity. Cut back after flowering if seeds are not required.
