Dianthus barbatus 'Sooty' is an unusual dianthus with green foliage, turning near black over the season. Dark red-velvet flowers bloom in clusters in May and June. 

Best grown in full sun in light, well-drained soil. A biennial to short-lived perennial;Keep it going by dividing within 2 two years.
