Astilbe chinensis var. pumila has Common Names: Dwarf Chinese Astilbe
 
A. chinensis var. pumila is an herbaceous perennial forming a spreading clump to 30cm in height, with mid green, deeply cut leaves and dense, fluffy spikes of rosy-mauve flowers
 
Good for moist or boggy situations but less demanding of moisture than most astilbes. Sun or shade.Useful for its late flowering,often into autumn, and stoloniferous ground covering habit. The finished flowers turn rust brown in autumn and can be left standing for winter decoration.
