NB Supplied as 1 to3 stemmed young plants that may only reach a foot or two tall with small flowers in the first summer, not achieving a mature height before the second year .
Aconitum carmichaelii 'Arendsii' is an erect, tuberous perennial with dense spires of rich blue flowers in autumn, borne atop beautifully cut, shiny, dark green leaves starting into growth as early as February.

Thrives in full sun or shade, in moist, organically rich, well-drained soil. Height varies depending on growing conditions; very well fed and watered plants can get to near a stately 2 metres though typically around 120 cms. Cut down dead growth

in winter. We rate this as perhaps the best of the monkshoods, which we recommend to gardeners as an alternative to delphiniums as they are not touched by slugs and snails, do not require time consuming staking, can do well in shade if not dry and in the case of this species remain attractive throughout the summer.Do not plant where there is risk of being eaten as all parts are poisonous.

Height: 90-150cm in 2-5 years

Spread: 30-60cm

The pictures in this listing are examples of the available plant at maturity and do not indicate anything in regards to size of plant at the point of sale
